Happy Holidays to Brothers and friends!
We hope this finds you all in good cheer. We wish you all safe travels as you make your way back from family and friends this holiday season.
As we move on to the next year, we can reflect on the great happenings at the Champaign-Urbana campus.
This past semester we welcomed 20 new Brothers into our chapter. For the first time, we had more people wanting to live in than could physically fit in the house. This is good news and promising of a strong brotherhood and chapter.
Philanthropy
Brother Jay Chae did Journey of Hope this past summer making him our 12th Brother to undertake the challenge. He raised nearly $3,000 for Push America. He and Chris Deamont are doing Journey of Hope this summer. The event is a Bike Trek across the USA stopping at various locations to spend time with people with disabilities. Follow the progress of Jay Chae and Chris Deamont as they continue to raise money and awareness! Together they have made a bold undertaking of raising $7,000 each.
The Illini Chapter has also raised over $5,400 this semester from their annual Camp Out on the Quad. This annual event was headed up by Jon Cerqua who excellently coordinated the event. Brothers could be found 24 hours a day on the quad next to their tent canning for donations for Push.
Brotherhood
Our Chapter received 20 new members this fall in our 13th class since Refounding. While we grow larger, our brotherhood remains strong. On a warm Saturday, brothers are frequently found playing on the front porch. Our house has never been stronger and prospects for future growth so good.
Of the 45 chapters in the Interfraternity Council, we had the 6th best GPA last spring, with the best new member average from those that could be reported. Additionally, this marks being in the top 7 GPA’s for IFC for 6 of the past 7 semesters. Check out our grades here.
2012
The new year holds lots of promise for the Upsilon Chapter. We are excited for the Spring recruitment season and finishing out the school year. In February, we will mark our 7th year since Refounding. More details will come shortly!
